Body and Mind – History and Heritage
AIRE Ancient Baths is a unique concept, inspired by ancient civilizations and celebrating tradition by providing luxury thermal bath facilities in historic settings. AIRE London, for example, is situated in the heart of Covent Garden in a restored 18th Century townhouse that was once home to JM Barrie.
Every AIRE Ancient Baths location has been carefully considered down to the last detail within unique spaces which celebrate the city in which they’re located. Here are three of our favourite AIRE locations, along with some ideas for where you can stay and dine during your visit.
Showcasing Gaudi’s architecture and Dali’s art, while encompassing the spirit of Catalonia, Barcelona is a cultural hub with a Mediterranean feel and is one of the most popular city break destinations in the world. At the heart of this vibrant and fast-paced city is AIRE Barcelona, located next to El Born Market within an old 18th Century warehouse and offering respite and recuperation from the surrounding area’s noise and buzz.
Sitting on the centrally-located Passeig de Gracia is one of the city’s most celebrated luxury hotels – the 5-star Mandarin Oriental. Showcasing timeless style combined with modern interiors, as well as gourmet Michelin-starred dining across three restaurants, the Mandarin Oriental has it all.
You won’t have to rely solely on the hotel’s dining options, however, as Barcelona is famous for its culinary offerings. Achieving two Michelin stars within two years of opening, Cocina Hermanos Torres serves traditional Catalan dishes with a modern twist, while Jodi Vila’s Alkimia is slightly lesser-known but just as impressive.
A design and fashion hub, Denmark’s capital has garnered a reputation as one of Europe’s most modern, progressive and trendy cities. A sophisticated, yet understated, culture awaits visitors who are invited to enjoy the laid-back atmosphere along with all the city has to offer.
Amongst our favourite hotels in Copenhagen is Nimb, a palatial Moorish structure, situated in the city’s Tivoli Gardens, that wouldn’t seem out of place in a fairytale. Around 40 unique rooms await guests and a rooftop pool provides stunning views of the hotel’s surroundings.
With more than 15 Michelin-starred restaurants across the city, there is no shortage of world-class cuisine on offer in this Scandi spot. Our pick of the bunch is Noma, consistently ranked as one of the best restaurants in the world and hailed for transforming Nordic cuisine. If you want to experience this fine establishment, however, you’ll need to act quickly as it’s set to close at the end of 2024 in order to reinvent itself as a food laboratory.
AIRE New York
The city that never sleeps needs no introduction, offering luxury in abundance. In the midst of downtown’s hustle and bustle is AIRE New York, an oasis of tranquillity within a historic 19th Century textiles factory.
In terms of luxury hotels, visitors are spoiled for choice. The 5-star Chatwal has sat on 44th Street since 1905, while the JW Marriott Essex House New York is another of our favourites here at Blend Group. A member of the Historic Hotels of America, the Marriott is located just off Central Park and rises 44 storeys high.
If you’d like to enjoy a city getaway to one of these locations, taking in the beauty and serenity of an AIRE Ancient Baths spa, we’d love to hear from you here. We specialise in putting together bespoke, luxury experiences for our valued clientele and can organise absolutely everything, from hotels and transport to dining and extra experiences.
