The Highlights of the Caribbean
We recently wrote about our favourite luxury destinations in the Indian Ocean and now it’s time to let you in on what we think are the best places to visit in the Caribbean.
The Caribbean is a region of the Americas that encompasses the Caribbean Sea and more than 700 islands. Located to the southeast of the Gulf of Mexico and the mainland of North America, the region is blessed with a hot, tropical climate and a diverse and stunning topography, which includes mountains, beaches, coral reefs, tropical rainforests, waterfalls, volcanoes, and more.
Where to visit
There are four main island groups in the Caribbean region – the Greater Antilles, Leeward Islands, Leeward Antilles and the Winward Islands – and within these four areas are some of the most picturesque destinations on the planet.
Right at the top of our list of must-visit destinations in the Caribbean is the tropical archipelago of the Turks and Caicos. Located around 600 miles southeast of Miami, this British overseas territory has a population of around 45,000 which is spread over nine inhabited islands. With one of the lowest rainfall averages in the Caribbean and one of the highest percentages of sunny days, you’ll be able to enjoy the exquisite beaches and paradisaic turquoise waters in ideal conditions.
Here at Blend Group, we also absolutely love the Cayman Islands with their outstanding diving and snorkelling sites, abundant wildlife and pristine beaches. With a GDP per capita of around $91,000, the Caymans boast the highest standard of living in the region, which is reflected in the high-quality luxury accommodation and amenities that can be found there.
Another favourite Caribbean island destination of ours is Saint Barthélemy, also known as St. Barts. This volcanic island is fully surrounded by shallow reefs and with a landmass covering just 25 square kilometres, it’s one of the smallest Caribbean islands. Home to a multitude of five-star hotels, resorts and villas, St. Barts is famous for its luxury lifestyle, sophisticated but laid-back way of life and world-class cuisine. It’s a mecca for jet-setters, celebrities and the world’s elite, offering stunning beaches, high-end shopping and total exclusivity.
Where to stay
Something we’re especially proud of here at Blend Group is the close relationships that we’ve built with accommodation partners all over the globe, meaning we have access to the most exclusive and sought-after places to stay in the world.
As a result, we can find the perfect hotels and resorts to suit your Caribbean requirements. For example, in Turks and Caicos, the secluded, beachfront Sailrock Resort is privately nestled among pristine beaches and just a short island hop flight away from Providenciales, home to the world’s fourth largest coral reef. Another of our favourite places to call home in Turks and Caicos is the luxury 5-star Wymara Resort and Villas, which offers panoramic sea views from modern suites, studios and villas.
In St. Barts we adore the 5-star Le Barthélemy Hotel and Spa and the Rosewood, both of which provide guests with a truly luxurious Caribbean experience, with access to world-class scuba diving, private beaches and wellness spas.
Get it booked
When it comes to visiting the Caribbean, the best time to go is during high season, which spans October to late March. So if you’re looking for a last-minute Caribbean adventure to catch the end of this season, or you want to book a trip for Autumn and beyond, please get in touch with us here. We’d love to put together a bespoke, once-in-a-lifetime experience just for you.
Please note, we still recommend travel to the Caribbean between April and September but would warn our valued clientele that the weather is a little less consistent than during peak months.
