The area gained worldwide recognition during the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, hosting several of the skiing events, and over the years has developed into a winter paradise for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Whether your preference is gentle pistes or tree-lined powder runs, Hakuba has got you covered. Despite its credentials, however, it remains a relatively quiet ski area, renowned for the magical combination of reliable snowfall and sunny days.

Whilst here you’ll stay at the Phoenix Hakuba, situated at the heart of the Hakuba skiing experience and offering complete luxury. Aligned with all of the culture on show, you’ll be able to marvel in the beauty of the early stages of the cherry blossom season, as the city becomes covered in clouds of the stunning national flower, Sakura. It truly is a sight to behold and one of the most breathtaking spectacles this magical country has to offer.
Kyoto is also famed for its cuisine. Not only does food here have a rich and historic tradition, comprising of various culinary styles that are centuries old, it is also the home of many of Japan’s most famous sake breweries. Be sure to lose yourself for an afternoon amongst the numerous authentic wooden teahouses and traditional restaurants.
