The 2023 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado

Visit Aspen, one of the world’s most famous and glamourous ski resorts
    4 November, 2022

During the last weekend of January 2023, the luxury ski resort town of Aspen, Colorado will host the Winter X Games for its 22nd consecutive year.

The Winter X Games is an annual extreme snowsports event, that’s widely considered to be one of the biggest and most important weekends on the snowsports calendar. The home of the Winter X Games has been Aspen since its 1997 debut and the spectacle has since become the heart and soul of the alternative winter sports industry.

Come January, almost 100 of the world’s top snowsports athletes will descend on Aspen, along with thousands of winter sports enthusiasts, for three days of heart-pounding action. Competitors will go up against each other in 14 disciplines, including the SuperPipe, Big Air and Slopestyle events for both skiers and snowboarders.

The entertainment on show will be world-class, but that’s not the only reason we recommend heading there this winter, as the town of Aspen is worth the visit in itself. Situated in the Rocky Mountains, the town has humble roots and was originally founded as a mining camp in the 1880s.

However, the town’s make-up began to change in the mid-50s, when the neighbouring Aspen Mountain was turned into a ski resort. Since then, the dwelling has risen to international levels of fame and become a glitzy playground for the wealthy and famous. Due to this, Aspen’s residential real estate is the most expensive of any ski resort in the world.

From Mariah Carey and Beyonce to Jack Nicholson and Jay Z, Aspen has hosted huge names from both the celebrity and business worlds, in its luxury hotels and exclusive boutique chalets. Due to the resort’s clientele, its streets are lined with suitable amenities. A string of luxury shops, for example, allows visitors to hunt for brands like Gucci, Prada, Moncler, Ralph Lauren and Christian Dior. There’s also a culinary scene to match, consisting of luxury restaurants and sophisticated bars, and a nightlife that includes being able to take in the opera and ballet.

One of our favourite places to stay is the Little Nell Hotel, Aspen’s only five-star, five-diamond, ski-in/ski-out accommodation. Its breathtaking mountain views, luxury amenities and impeccable service make this the place to be on the mountain.

So why not combine a trip to this must-visit ski resort with one of the most electrifying sports events on the calendar this winter? If that sounds good to you, we’d love for you to get in touch. We’ll be able to arrange everything, from your ground transfers and lift passes, to accommodation and in-resort entertainment.
