Remote Working’s All The Rage
The Covid-19 pandemic has unquestionably changed the world we live in today. Even with travel and social distancing restrictions all but removed, the virus has left its mark in numerous ways. Most of the pandemic’s repercussions have been severely negative, such as the death and illness it’s caused and the reduction in freedom it’s led to. However, many argue that out of the darkness some positives have surfaced.
One popular opinion, for example, is that the various lockdowns were a chance to re-charge, learn a new skill or spend more time with loved ones. A by-product that we at Blend Group are especially excited about, however, is the shift in work pattern that has resulted. Key workers and furlough-receivers aside, the vast majority of the working world was forced to adapt from the norm and transition away from an office-centred work culture to a more flexible, remote model.
Whilst the world was ‘locked down’, businesses were not allowed to operate their offices as they usually would and huge numbers of employees were forced to work from home, often for the first time. But what we are seeing now, as those restrictions no longer apply, is a working world that has adapted to the changes and continued with the new working culture and patterns.
Granted, some companies are moving back towards business as usual, however, for many the new usual is a more flexible approach whereby employees are encouraged to work remotely or undertake a hybrid method that combines working from home with one or two days a week spent in the office.
One company that recently caught our eye was a Sydney-based marketing firm that made Bali their work HQ for two weeks. Whilst work and productivity remained very much a priority, the staff were able to engage in team-building environments like never before. Morning hikes, team yoga sessions, shared poolside meals and quad biking expeditions all sent staff motivation, job satisfaction and job loyalty levels through the roof.
It’s no coincidence that this new approach to working has taken off with so many people – employers and employees alike – as mental wellbeing and work-life balance have never been as high on the agenda as they are now. Additionally, advancements in technology have increased the ease with which it can be done.
Of course, every business, regardless of size, will continue to search for the perfect post-pandemic work model for their employees, and certain industries lend themselves to this way or working far better than others do. But here at Blend Group, we’re convinced that the benefits of remote working are undeniable.
That’s why we’re continually developing our contacts and partners, to be able to find the perfect accommodation, work facilities and locations for companies to take advantage of. If you’re a company that’s moving with the times and believes that productivity and success can be achieved remotely, please feel free to get in touch. We’d be delighted to put together a bespoke package that takes you and your staff to some of the finest places in the world whilst meeting your business goals.
