The 2023 Formula 1 Season is Fast Approaching
The 2023 Formula 1 season kicks off over the first weekend of March in the heart of the Sakhir desert at the unique and modern Bahrain International Circuit. As the general hype and interest surrounding F1 appears to be at an all-time high, due in part to the recent Netflix series Drive to Survive alongside the on-track drama of the previous two seasons, there’s a monumental buzz accompanying the start of the next instalment.
Last November brought an end to a campaign that was dominated by Team Red Bull, as drivers had to get to grips with brand-new regulations that changed the sport. The intention was to bring closer racing within the field and consequently increase entertainment levels. It provided a gripping season but one that some teams struggled to adapt to. For many, the second year of this new F1 era is the one that’s set to cause all the excitement and should result in a far closer contest.
What to look out for
In February we’ll start seeing the launch of each team, as cars are unveiled to the world. This is always an exciting period for F1 fans and will lead us into the pre-season test circuit and then the season itself, which is set to be the longest to date.
The Qatar GP returns to the calendar after missing out last year due to its football World Cup hosting duties. Having only featured once before in 2021, Qatar will feel it still has plenty to prove on the circuit as it hosts the world of F1 at the Losail International Circuit from 6 to 8 October. After a successful World Cup, the eyes of the world will be locked on.
Another race that’s caught our eye is this season’s only debutant – the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which takes place in November. We can’t think of many cities around the world that are more suited to hosting a Grand Prix and think the race presents a unique opportunity to enjoy the F1 while taking in all the entertainment on offer in Nevada’s iconic Sin City.
Finally, on the other side of the country, Miami will host its second Grand Prix from 5 to 7 May after a successful and star-studded debut last year at the Miami Gardens purpose-built track which encircles Miami Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium.
